Adams County council authorizes two Community Crossings grant applications and matching funds

Adams County council members voted to authorize two Community Crossings grant applications and commit the county match required to seek state aid for two road projects.

Speaker 7 described the first project, Bridal 180, a culvert/pipe and related work at a location cited near 825 South and 650 West, estimating the total project at $969,000 and the county match at roughly 25% (about $242,000). The second project, County Road 300 North (from US 27 to the west county line), was described as a nearly $1.4 million project that would require a county match estimated around $713,000.

Council members discussed strategy for maximizing the state match and noted past successes winning several large grant awards in 2024. Speaker 7 said the county has secured more than $5.6 million in awards in 2024 across HSIP, Community Crossings and federal aid programs and urged that the two projects would use available Community Crossings eligibility for the coming cycle.

The council approved a motion to commit the necessary matching funds and authorize staff to submit the applications when the January application window opens. "We'll be asking for permission to submit for Community Crossings matching on that project," Speaker 7 said, outlining the schedule and matching requirements.

What happens next: Highway and grants staff will prepare and submit the state grant applications and return with formal matching‑commitment letters for council or commissioners as required by state grant rules.
