"Senate bill 123 removes the $500 administration penalty assessed by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for illegal ammunition," Burns said in his presentation and yielded for questions. He told the committee the provision dated back to 1996, when concealed carry was enacted.
Committee members asked about the frequency of enforcement and whether people had been charged under the provision; Burns said the office did not present detailed case counts during the hearing but confirmed the provision’s origin. After brief discussion the chair called the roll. The clerk announced that SB 123 had advanced with a tally announced as 5 ayes and 1 nay.
