Eureka council adopts ordinance requiring annual inspections for certain food-generating businesses

The Eureka City Council on Nov. 5 adopted an ordinance updating Chapter 51.29 of the city code to implement state requirements for food recovery and organics management. The ordinance requires businesses that generate regulated edible food to register with the Humboldt County Division of Environmental Health, pay an annual fee and submit to yearly inspections under a forthcoming memorandum of understanding, city staff said.
