Town manager reports road rehab, crosswalk bids and committee activity; staff deploys speed trailer

At the July 9 meeting, the town manager updated the council on capital improvement projects and committee activity. Staff said the annual road rehabilitation project will get underway with contractor meetings scheduled in August and September. Two crosswalk projects were combined, bids received and staff said they were negotiating with a bidder; if the contract exceeds staff authority the council will be asked to approve it.
Staff also said a speed‑monitoring trailer has been placed near the school to gather traffic speed data, deployed in response to resident concerns about excessive speeding on Woodside Road. Staff reported ongoing coordination with Caltrans on median and roadside weed maintenance and said Caltrans’ district has limited maintenance staffing.
Volunteer and advisory committees reported activity: the Livestock Committee reviewed a barn application and has health/safety and outreach subcommittees; Environment and Open Space will comment on the 773 subdivision and is planning a film presentation; the Trails Committee requested a trail maintenance fee as part of the annual stable permit process and formed a subcommittee to relay comments to staff.
No votes were taken on CIP contracts at the July 9 meeting; staff said recommended items will be returned to council for approval as needed.
