"My proposal is that we grandfather those 3 schools in by giving them the amount of money that it would cost to have a Title I site coordinator," a staff presenter said. Trustees supported the one‑year grandfathering as a way to avoid abrupt program cuts while monitoring whether numbers rebound.
Separately, staff summarized a neighborhood boundary proposal affecting the Desert Color subdivision and nearby undeveloped land. Parents at a public meeting asked that new residents be allowed to remain in the Desert Hills feeder pattern; staff noted busing would require adding a bus route but that growth makes new routes likely in any case. Trustees asked staff to continue community engagement and to return with formal boundary proposals and recommended motions.
No formal votes were taken on the Title I grandfathering or the Desert Color boundary at the Nov. 25 meeting; staff will bring formal action items back if staff recommendations are finalized.
