Soledad issues Juneteenth proclamation and community invited to Salinas Valley events

The Soledad City Council presented and adopted a proclamation recognizing June 19, 2024 as Juneteenth and invited the public to local events. Kendra Cabrera of the Salinas Juneteenth Celebration Association thanked the council and highlighted an event on June 22 at Hartnell College with live music, spoken word and free lunch for the first 200 attendees sponsored by Hartnell College Foundation.
Councilmembers and residents offered recollections of Juneteenth’s history and emphasized the proclamation’s role in civic education and community inclusion. The mayor asked staff to provide the proclamation to event organizers and to post photos on city social media.
