Soledad council clears consent calendar, adopts assessment levies and proclaims Juneteenth

At its June 19 meeting the Soledad City Council approved the consent calendar with three items pulled for separate discussion. After public comment and staff clarification the council approved the pulled items and the remainder of the consent calendar.
The council adopted a series of assessment district resolutions (Resolutions 6,105–6,109) setting levies and collections for fiscal year 2024–25 for five assessment districts. Staff explained the engineer’s reports and answered questions about specific charges in the Mirabelle Orchard district (graffiti, landscaping and the channel maintenance share). Council members noted that some council members were recused from specific votes because of proximity conflicts and the minutes show those recusals and some abstentions where required.
Separately, the council issued a proclamation recognizing Juneteenth (June 19) and heard remarks and an event invitation from Kendra Cabrera of the Salinas Juneteenth Celebration Association. Staff urged community members to participate in related events on June 22 at Hartnell College.
