Meade County commissioners voted to waive the $433.04 building permit fee for a modest addition to the Hereford Volunteer Fire Department, a request presented to the board by a community representative and the Planning Director.
Gary Dearing, speaking as a community member and not as a commissioner, said the addition is modest, will serve local emergency needs and that the department's apparatus currently fits tightly in the facility. Planning Director Tanya Vigg said the project meets county building standards and that the Planning Board recommended approval of a variance with conditions, including a recorded road‑maintenance agreement, a 20‑foot road through Lot DS4A that narrows to 16 feet beyond and approval of a new approach permit.
A commissioner moved to waive the permit fee; the motion was seconded and a verbal vote was recorded: "Aye." The chair announced the motion passed, "3 to 0." Vigg confirmed that the project complies with applicable county requirements.
The commission placed the item on the consent agenda after approving the waiver and moved on to later hearing items.
