The Soledad City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 769 on June 19 to reestablish and clarify truck routing within the city and to direct staff to install California‑compliant, high‑visibility signage and coordinate outreach to trucking companies.
Interim city engineer Leon Gomez reviewed earlier hearings on the truck‑route ordinance and explained implementation steps: finalize signage plans with public works and the on‑call traffic engineer, install key decision‑point signs ahead of major intersections so truck drivers are guided correctly, and perform outreach to trucking stakeholders and local companies. Staff said full implementation — signage installation and targeted outreach — may take one to two months.
Council asked whether the ordinance could also limit truck parking in certain locations (for example, Gavilan/Orchard) and staff said parking restrictions and enforcement are separate municipal code actions but will be coordinated. A code enforcement commercial officer will be able to issue warnings, citations and tow trucks that violate route or parking restrictions.
Council emphasized community outreach to inform residents of the route change and to coordinate with local businesses. The ordinance passed unanimously.
