Meade County treasurer reminds residents taxes due Oct. 31, explains online payment fees

Robin Schrank, Meade County treasurer, reviewed the office's September key performance indicators and told the commission that tax processing is current and that the office expects large escrow deposits in the next few days that will appear in the October KPI. She reminded taxpayers that the tax due date is Oct. 31 and that online payment options are available.
Schrank explained payment fees: a $1.50 charge for direct debit from a checking account and a processing fee of about 3% for credit-card payments handled by the county's vendor. She said staff can assist residents who have trouble with the online payment portal.
The treasurer said her office is "staying up with taxes as usual" and that, unlike the auditor's office, they are not currently experiencing long in-office lines. Commissioners thanked her for managing payments and encouraged public use of the online option.
No policy changes or fee adjustments were proposed at the meeting.
