Roseburg City Council voted to accept a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant offer of up to $2,120,951 to be used toward the Taxiway A extension project at Roseburg Regional Airport.
City staff told the council the initial application requested a larger amount but federal funding programming and negotiated construction management task orders reduced the city's actual need; the grant offer that arrived last Thursday reflected the higher programmed amount and required a timely acceptance. "That grant offer came in last Thursday. It is due back to FAA by tomorrow," the staff presenter said.
Councilor David (SPEAKER 12) moved to adopt a resolution authorizing acceptance of the FAA grant (AIP number 3‑41‑0054‑031‑2024), and the council seconded and approved the motion without recorded opposition. The staff presentation described the resolution as a cleanup to align the council's prior adoption with the grant offer amount.
The grant will apply to the taxiway extension project under the AIP to develop the Roseburg Regional Airport. The presenter said the change in grant amount primarily reflected federal timing and construction task‑order negotiations rather than a material change in project scope.
Council did not discuss additional matching funds or project timeline details during the public discussion; staff indicated the grant acceptance is within existing authorization but preferred a council resolution to keep the record consistent.
The resolution passed; staff will proceed with the federal acceptance process and return with any additional procurement or construction details as required.
