Mason County Fiscal Court appoints Megan Davenport as county treasurer, approves 2025 budget and routine financial measures

Mason County Fiscal Court voted Dec. 10 to appoint Megan R. Davenport as county treasurer for the term beginning Jan. 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027, and to approve a package of routine financial measures for the coming year.
Judge Executive Owen McNeil administered the constitutional oath to Megan Davenport after the court approved Resolution 24‑16. The oath was recited in open court as required by section 228 of the Kentucky Constitution.
The court also approved the fiscal 2025 budget as presented, with estimated receipts of $6,067,850 and estimated disbursements of $5,958,940; excess fees were listed at $108,910. In separate votes the court set the maximum annual amount for deputies and assistants at $305,000 (covering salaries, overtime and leave), authorized claims payments (including additional claims totaling $54,804.66), and approved budget transfers totaling $341,053.88.
The court approved a short‑term loan request of $25,000 to cover early‑year payroll until fee collections arrive; the request included the understanding that the amount historically is repaid by February. Several routine departmental reports and surplus actions were approved the same day, including surplus of 20 portable radios to a volunteer partner and acceptance of the animal shelter and recycling reports.
The appointment and financial votes were taken on motions from the bench and were carried by roll call; where a roll call was given, commissioners recorded affirmative votes. The court also passed Resolution 24‑17 shortly afterward to name the county treasurer (upon taking office) as the applicant/fiscal agent for FEMA applications should a disaster occur.
The most recent procedural step is the filing and implementation of the approved budget and recorded resolutions; the new treasurer’s term begins Jan. 1, 2025.
