Maysville, Ky. — Mason County’s landfill director updated the Fiscal Court on Phase 6 work and presented vehicle procurement options at the July 9 meeting.
Director Travis Cooley said Phase 6 lining work is progressing as weather permits and that clay placement and liner installation will proceed pending state approval. He reported June throughput of 6,521 tons and described leachate pumping to the Maysville City Treatment Plant. The court accepted the landfill report.
Cooley presented vehicle quotes: state-contract new trucks at roughly $47,220–$49,765 and local used options that quoted under $40,000 (a 2021 model with ~36,000 miles at ~$36,699; a 2019 model with ~53,854 miles at ~$34,949). Commissioners discussed warranty differences, mileage, and the threshold under $40,000 that avoids a formal bid process. The court authorized Cooley to further examine the vehicles, consult with staff, and proceed with a purchase under the $40,000 threshold if appropriate.
