Maysville, Ky. — Mason County Fiscal Court approved routine financial business during its July 9 meeting, including claims, budget transfers and a quarterly summary of investments.
Treasurer Kim News asked the court to take claims as presented, including additional claims that brought the total to $772,285.07. The court moved, seconded and approved the claims by roll call.
The treasurer also presented the quarterly financial statement as of June 30, 2024, and requested authorization for budget transfers totaling $492,365.04. The court approved the transfers. In a separate item, the treasurer reviewed certificates of deposit and related investments: the general-fund CDs totaled approximately $2,700,000 and landfill CD investments totaled approximately $1,654,944.89, for a combined CD investment balance of about $4,354,944.89. The court approved the quarterly investments journal as presented.
The county indicated that maturities and rates are being reviewed with local banks; officials said they will meet to determine short-term actions as CDs mature.
What’s next: Treasurer and judge will continue negotiations with banks on CD renewals and report back at future meetings.
