Mason County makes arts and tax‑board appointments, highlights regional initiatives and FEMA assessments

Court members provided community and regional updates: Skipper’s restaurant is progressing toward opening; Hal Teagarden, a Mason County resident near Dover, was announced as the new executive director for the Buffalo Trace Area Development District; and Amy Kennedy is retiring in June. The Ohio River Way team will visit Maysville on June 3 to screen a new tourism and economic development film at the Russell Theatre, and the county will help unveil the Kentucky Ohio River Recreation Authority, a new multi‑county body covering 21 counties that will promote recreation and tourism along the Ohio River; Mason County will serve as one of the initial chairs.
The presiding official also noted Mason County’s inclusion in a recent federal disaster declaration for early April storms and said FEMA damage assessors will be in affected areas this week conducting door‑to‑door assessments.
Next steps: appointees will assume roles per board schedules; the court will host or support the Ohio River Way screening and participate in the launch of the recreation authority; FEMA outreach to affected residents will continue this week.
