Mason County raises livestock removal fees after decades at same rate

Commissioners and staff said the program absorbs truck, fuel and labor costs and serves as a valuable nuisance- abatement and public-health resource. After discussion about preserving participation in the program while responding to rising costs, the court approved a motion to set removal fees at $30 for adult cows and $15 for calves. The motion was moved and seconded and passed by roll-call vote.
No changes to program eligibility or operating hours were recorded at the meeting; county staff said they would proceed with the updated fee schedule.
