Board approves fire-boat slip lease and proclaims Fire Prevention Week

Chief Joe Cardello explained the county recently took delivery of a new fire boat that is nearly ready for water deployment. He requested authorization to execute a 10-year lease at Hope Springs Marina with two five-year renewal options, a base rent of $3,000 per year and a 3% annual escalation. The lease contains language allowing the county to install and retain its own boat lift, should the county later need to relocate the asset. The board approved the lease 6-0 with 1 absent.
Cardello also described community outreach activities including station open houses and encouraged residents to install and test smoke alarms.
The vote: motion carried 6-0 with one absence. The board recorded its appreciation for the Fire Department's prevention work and asked staff to provide any additional technical specifications for the vessel if requested.
