Broadband contractor delays Reiner Loop work after hurricane; EDA told of 3–4 week shift

EDA staff said Gigabeam crews were reassigned to repair hurricane damage in Grayson County, delaying the Reiner Loop start by an estimated 3–4 weeks and shifting the target for completion to mid-late January or early February.
Carly provided the board with a broadband timeline update and said there were no major new items since the last meeting but that recent hurricane damage in Grayson County diverted contractor crews.
"Gigabeam kind of got pulled to Grayson County where they had damaged their infrastructure," Carly said, and the contractor expects a 3–4 week delay to the Reiner Loop work. Carly said the contractor is pushing to meet a mid- to late-January or early-February timeline but that the board should expect a clearer update after the next contractor meeting.
Board members asked clarifying questions about service-area labels such as 'Tri Cities' and whether local railroad crossings would affect the 2021 work stream. Carly said 2021 work should wrap up this year if the railroad crossings work out.
No new contractor actions were approved; the update was informational and staff will meet with the contractor for a fuller schedule update.
