Washington County approves Moonlight Drive-In as multipurpose venue with amended hours

The Washington County Board of Supervisors voted 6–0 on Nov. 12 to approve a special-exception permit that will allow the Moonlight Drive-In (Moonlite) on Lee Highway to operate as a drive-in movie theater and a multipurpose event venue.
Renee Blevins, who identified herself as the owner of the Moonlight, told the board the project is “more than a business venture for us. It’s a labor of love” and said she and her family have invested more than $1 million with an additional $300,000–$500,000 needed to finish renovations including an expanded concession stand and restroom upgrades. Blevins said the venue would comply with county ordinances and work with VDOT and emergency services on traffic and safety plans.
