Supervisors authorize single-signature wire transfers for emergency disaster procurement

The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a banking resolution on Oct. 22 that authorizes the treasurer to execute wire transfers for emergency disaster procurement with the chair's signature alone for a single county account, provided appropriate documentation is retained.
Mr. Parker described operational challenges during recent emergency procurement when the existing resolution required three signatures and rounding up signatories delayed purchases. The board reviewed a drafted resolution (referred to in the meeting packet) that narrows the single-signature authority to emergency procurement situations for one account and requires proper documentation supporting the transfer.
Supervisors said the change is intended to avoid purchase delays when quick payments are necessary for disaster response. The motion was made, seconded and approved by voice vote (recorded six-zero).
