Resident urges Montgomery County to halt satellite early‑voting expansion

At the Nov. 25 Montgomery County Board meeting, resident Wayman Pack urged supervisors to stop plans to add satellite early-voting locations in Riner and Shawesville, saying the state’s absentee-voting provisions and permanent absentee lists provide sufficient access.
Pack told the board that he and his wife received absentee ballots by mail and that, if a voter prefers, ballots can be dropped at the registrar, returned by a trusted person, or obtained through the permanent absentee voter application. He said setting up more satellite locations would be an unnecessary expense and suggested the county instead spend discretionary funds on programs such as school lunches.
Pack cited sections of the Virginia code during his remarks about absentee voting and permanent absentee lists. The board did not take action on the comment; the item was recorded as part of the public-address period.
