Broadband crews report progress; EDA hears update on fiber passes and miles completed

Carly (Speaker 8), who delivered the update, said that OLT transitioned to O26 and that active passings on the network rose to 596. ABCO's fiber crew completed approximately 3.1 miles of the Reiner Loop and the North Blacksburg Tri-Cities Loop in mid-January; staff said roughly 92 miles of fiber have been completed across Bland and Montgomery to date. Carly acknowledged earlier misstatements about backlog numbers and corrected them for the board.
Staff also said some contractor crews were temporarily redirected because of hurricane impacts but that work resumed quickly. No board action was required; the update was provided for information and project tracking.
