Board approves special-exception permit for Mendota medical weight-loss clinic

The Washington County Board of Supervisors on a unanimous vote approved a special-exception permit for About Face Aesthetics and Skin Care LLC to operate a small medical weight-loss clinic on roughly 9.33 acres at 2534 Mendota Road in the Tyler Magisterial District. Planner Mr. Richardson told the board the planning commission recommended the permit 6-0 and described the proposal as a low-impact medical use in the Conservation and Recreation zoning district.

Mr. Richardson said the applicant plans to staff the clinic with "2 to 3 employees" and to offer limited hours on Thursdays and Saturdays. He also noted a neighbor from the nearby Methodist church attended the planning hearing and asked whether the clinic would be a methadone clinic; Chairman Bill Gibson asked clarifying questions, and the neighbor said his concerns were resolved.

Supervisor Hernandez moved to approve the special-exception permit; the motion was seconded and passed without opposition. The board did not record any formal conditions beyond standard permitting requirements.

The property is owned by the Mendota Community Association and the presenter said lease revenue would support the association's activities. The planning commission and staff did not report outstanding opposition or outstanding technical issues that would block the permit.

With the motion approved, the applicant may proceed with any remaining administrative permits and building approvals required by county staff. The board did not set a separate timetable for inspections or additional conditions at the meeting.
