County authorizes $6.8M sale agreement of Diamond K property to Solid Waste SSD

The purchase price is $6,800,000 with annual payments of approximately $595,000; once the SSD completes the payment schedule the district will take full ownership of the parcel and associated assets. Staff said the SSD has included the first payment in its 2025 budget and that two remaining county payments (2025 and 2026) are required to close the county's original purchase.
Council asked whether the SSD currently owns other real estate assets; staff said the transfer station currently sits on county property and the SSD does not yet own real estate holdings. The SSD intends to develop a master plan and possibly relocate facilities to the site; staff also noted title insurance issues to be resolved before final execution and asked for authorization to proceed with minor administrative changes.
A motion to approve the uniform real‑estate contract and allow minor administrative changes passed unanimously. Staff will complete title work and finalize the transfer per contract terms.
