County transportation staff updated the Board of Supervisors on the Red Bud Road realignment design and advised that the local matching requirement for the VDOT revenue-sharing grant has increased since the original application.
Mr. Bishop told the board that the county previously set aside approximately $2,011,095 for the project match but that inflation and design changes raised the required match to $2,201,639. He requested authorization to shift approximately $190,550 from the general transportation line to the Red Bud project account to meet the revised match and keep the project moving toward final design and construction.
Supervisor Dunn made the motion to authorize a transfer of up to $190,550 for the match; the motion was seconded and taken by roll-call vote. Supervisors recorded aye votes and the request was approved.
County staff said the action is not a supplemental appropriation but a transfer within already budgeted transportation funds; staff also noted the county’s $6 million project total leverages nearly $4 million in state funds for an overall $6 million project.
The board’s action authorizes staff to proceed with the funding shift and continue final design and coordination with VDOT.
