The James City County Board of Supervisors authorized an interim agreement to take the proposed consolidated Government Center at 5231 Long Hill Road to 100% design and prepare construction documents. Assistant County Administrator Bridal Reinheimer said the not-to-exceed amount for the agreement is $11,500,000 and that funding is included in the County capital improvement program budgets for FY24 and FY26.
Reinheimer described a collaborative working relationship with the Henderson Gilbane joint-venture team, noting deliverables received under the earlier interim agreement to 30% design. The agreement presented to the board would allow staff to complete design and construction documents; executing a comprehensive construction agreement would be a separate step.
Board members thanked staff and project partners for their work; the board then voted unanimously to authorize the agreement to proceed to 100% design.
The authorization directs staff to finalize interim agreement details and continue project development concurrent with CIP funding allocations.
