Commission backs Williams family rezoning to preserve multigenerational parcel

On Sept. 11 the Dinwiddie County Planning Commission recommended approval of rezoning case PDash24Dash13, a request by Charles and Gordon Williams to change a parcel from R‑1 Residential Limited to A‑2 Agricultural General.
Staff said the parcel and surrounding properties fit the A‑2 designation and that the requested rezoning would allow the family to continue a single‑family residential use that is compatible with the area and would not impede anticipated commercial uses in the Northern Dinwiddie Development Area.
Applicant Gordon Williams described multigenerational family ownership and said he intends to transfer a portion of the land to relatives so they can raise a family there. Chris Aldridge spoke in support, confirming local family ties and the request’s purpose.
A motion to recommend approval was made, seconded and passed on a 6‑0 roll call. The case will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors.
