Iron County Commission adopts 2025 budget and approves 2024 amendments

The chair read the statutory findings required by Utah Code Annotated 17-36-15, including that the tentative budget was available for inspection before the hearing. After the public hearing was closed, commissioners moved and approved resolutions to adopt the 2025 budget (resolution 2024-12) and the 2024 budget amendments (resolution 2024-11).
County staff and the auditor’s office explained specific items on the amendment list, including solar rebate and incentive payments on the second page of the amendment materials and reimbursement for election overtime and equipment (drop boxes) that were partly reimbursed by the state. The commission also noted vehicle transfers to and from the fleet and grant increases that required line-item adjustments.
The action concludes the statutory adoption process: a certified copy of the final budget and amendments will be filed with the state auditor and made available for public inspection in the county auditor’s office, as required by state law. No members of the public spoke against the budget at the hearing recorded on the agenda.
The commission said it will continue to monitor implementation, including unplanned repairs (county building roof repairs and other maintenance were discussed earlier in the meeting) and will revisit details as necessary through routine budget amendments and departmental oversight.
