Ordinance 2024-30: Commissioners approved updated rules of order and procedure for the county Redevelopment Agency to align bylaws with new state statutory language and to simplify routine provisions. Staff will follow up to reconcile any existing RDA bylaws with the ordinance.
Fire mitigation interlocal: The commission approved an interlocal agreement to allow the county to contract with local fire districts and municipalities for mitigation projects. Staff explained the agreement makes it simpler to use qualified fire districts (rather than running full RFPs when districts are the only qualified entities) and that the county administrator (Alan, on the phone) will manage project offers to districts.
North Events Center interlocal (tabled): Commissioners discussed management and maintenance responsibilities for the North Events Center and whether the town of Orterville should continue scheduling and programming. The item was tabled for further discussion to ensure consistent facility-management models across county facilities.
RS 2477 quiet-title filings: The commission authorized staff and county counsel to file additional quiet-title actions related to county RS 2477 roads, including Sand Dune Road. Commissioners voted to authorize filing and directed counsel to proceed based on prior closed-session discussions.
American Lands Council amicus brief: The commission approved a $5,000 contribution in support of an American Lands Council amicus brief encouraging the Supreme Court to take a lawsuit concerning unappropriated lands; county counsel advised the payment to a nonprofit was permissible and the county would not be a named party on the brief.
