Resident urges Kane County to repair 8 Mile Gap Road and produce permit records

McTeer said he requested county copies of the permit and the construction bond for the work but county staff and the planning and land-use department had not provided them by the meeting. He asked why the county did not inspect the finished work, why any bond had not been activated to pay for restoration, and argued the county’s annual materials budget ($150,000 cited from county website) contrasted with $200,000 spent on road litigation and other expenses.
Request and numbers: McTeer asked that the county replace the damaged road base on the roughly one-half-mile stretch before the end of the fiscal year and to include at least $75,000 more in the FY2025 materials budget to address remaining sections. He said he had emailed Commissioner Heaton; the commissioner replied at the meeting that he had just seen the email and would confirm figures and follow up by email.
Next steps: Commissioners acknowledged the concern and committed to follow up with McTeer; staff promised to confirm the budget figures from the county website and to respond to the requester by email.
