At its Nov. 21 work session the Wallsburg Town Council reviewed the entire 2025 meeting schedule, adjusted capital improvement priorities and received updates on the town website/email migration and broadband funding.
The council agreed to keep regular meeting patterns with a few date adjustments to avoid holidays and to schedule budget review work in May and formal budget adoption and public hearings in June. Members discussed using periodic budget amendments during the fiscal year rather than one large year-end amendment to preserve transparency.
Councilors moved the town’s stormwater plan onto the CIP list as a high priority to be started after July 2025 (funding and exact costs unknown), kept the Walsburg Town water system as the top, ongoing CIP item, and added park restrooms and a town-hall/chambers remodel to the list. Potential funding sources discussed included CDBG, UDOT match, general fund allocation and local matches; staff will update the MAG spreadsheet and resubmit by Monday.
Staff reported that new wellsburg.gov email addresses are live (hosted through Gmail) and the website will redirect from wellsburg.org while the migration completes; councilors noted approximate per-address costs and asked staff to publicize new addresses. The meeting also heard that fiber broadband pre-applications are due Dec. 23 with final applications in January and that USDA/Department of Agriculture funds might be available for underserved valley areas in summer 2025. Local providers signaled interest in partnering on routes into town.
The council adjourned at 8:51 p.m.
