Public Works Director Mike Casper briefed the Duchesne County Commission on Dec. 30 about winter operations and ongoing road projects.
Casper said crews responded to a combination of snow and unusual rain/ice, completed preparatory work on the Antelope Bridell project, and continued improvements on County Road 29. He reported the county’s chip crusher inventory at roughly 4,000 tons while noting the department needs about 12,000 tons to meet planned paving/graveling work; crews are adjusting production schedules to increase output.
Commissioners praised the road crew’s productivity and noted recent property acquisitions for a new shop that they expect to improve operations. Casper also noted outreach to a contractor to help gravel a section of roadway affected by heavy truck traffic associated with a nearby frac operation; staff committed to follow up. Commissioners and staff exchanged brief, mostly congratulatory remarks about teamwork and productivity across the year.
The report was informational; no formal action was taken.
