Duchesne County commissioners approved a series of operational and administrative measures during their Dec. 16 meeting. All motions listed below passed unanimously unless noted.
Mulcher purchase — The Road Department proposed acquiring a mulcher to support vegetation management and wildfire mitigation. Motion to purchase $59,589 from Wheeler (includes outfitting discussed) passed unanimously.
Service truck — Road Department recommended buying a fully equipped service truck located in Salt Lake for $182,687 (Performance Auto). Commissioners approved the purchase and directed staff to handle trade-in/sale of the old vehicle.
Building & Grounds truck — After an accident rendered one building-trade truck close to total loss, staff recommended purchasing a 1-ton diesel replacement for $63,820 from L and M Motor Company; commissioners approved the purchase and noted the wrecked unit will be repaired as a spare.
Tilt-deck trailer (discussion) — Staff described a 24-foot full-tilt trailer option ($13,055 after fees). Commissioners discussed and asked staff to bring the trailer purchase forward on the next agenda for formal approval.
Letter of support (Uinta Basin transit grant) — Commissioners approved a letter supporting a UNTA Basin Transit Authority first/last mile grant application intended to expand stops, including one at Fort Duchesne.
Administrative approvals — The commission approved tax adjustments and the 2024 individual abatement report, vouchers for county payments, and payroll for the period ending Dec. 7, 2024. Minutes for Dec. 9 and a volunteer appointment (Nancy Chucky) were also approved.
