Duchesne County fire officials report Wolf Creek blaze 1,500–2,000 acres, 0% contained

Duchesne County commissioners opened their Sept. 30 meeting with an emergency update on a wildfire burning near Wolf Creek. County emergency management and the Duchesne County fire warden said the fire was estimated at roughly 1,500–2,000 acres and was 0% contained.
The presenters said aircraft would be deployed that day for mapping and that Highway 35 was closed for about 48 hours for firefighter and public safety. "It's 0% contained," the fire warden said, and officials cautioned that critical fire‑weather—low humidity and gusts up to 40 mph—could worsen smoke and fire behavior in the afternoon.
Ryan Lafontaine, the Fire Management Officer for the northeast area, briefed the commission on expected wind shifts that could bring smoke into Duchesne County and emphasized firefighter safety as crews continue structure and hotspot checks. County leaders thanked response teams and asked to be kept informed of developments.
The commissioners said they would pass any further updates to the public and urged residents to follow county and Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands guidance while the incident is active.
