The group then discussed two interior wall remodels: one for the recorder’s office and one for the assessor’s office. Staff said two quotes are in hand and that a third quote had been requested from a local contractor (Tin Cup/Jed Black/Jet Black references). Because each office may have a different design, staff proposed splitting the work into two separate projects; commissioners noted the county procurement policy’s RFP threshold (discussed at roughly $25,000) and the risk that separate contractors could produce mismatched finishes across offices.
Commissioners agreed staff should proceed with the recorder’s office work now and budget approximately $20,000 for the assessor’s office in next year’s budget. Staff also raised the possibility of using Travel, Recreation and Tourism (TRT) funds to help the visitor center/museum projects if those repairs qualify.
No formal motions or votes took place; staff were asked to return with final quotes and RFP recommendations before executing larger procurements.
