The county’s tourism director briefed the Budget Committee on marketing campaigns designed to support the Davis Conference Center (DCC) and the forthcoming Western Sports Park.
Jessica (tourism director) reported Davis County received a state tourism marketing grant for $232,750 and said the county will run two campaigns: one focused on group and sports sales (B2B) and a smaller leisure campaign. She described projected returns for the awards and campaign mix, saying staff expect strong room-night and economic impacts tied to the new facility.
Jessica said the B2B campaign is expected to yield a roughly 7.19 return on investment and that county calculations anticipate about $2,480,000 in economic impact from those campaigns and several thousand room nights. She also said the county is spending approximately $350,000 on B2B sales and about $155,000 on the leisure campaign in the upcoming budget year.
Tourism and conference center staff discussed operational changes — including design updates, deferred maintenance such as air wall replacements and phased capital work — intended to keep the DCC competitive with neighboring venues. Staff also noted an 8% channel into capital reserves from gross revenue to fund larger remodels and replacements over time.
The presentation emphasized sales efforts tied to national trade shows and fam tours to bring event organizers to Davis County to evaluate the new facilities ahead of booking.
