Daggett County advances clinic design to construction-documents phase

Daggett County commissioners on Dec. 3 voted to move the new county clinic from the design-and-development phase into preparation of construction documents, a procedural milestone that authorizes staff and architects to finalize detailed specifications and prepare to solicit bids.

The decision followed a presentation by Bart, who described the three-step architectural process and said the county is now completing the second phase — design and development — which defines dimensions, elevations, HVAC and structural elements. "The first phase is schematic design ... the second stage we're at now is design and development," Bart said, adding the team has coordinated with potential tenant stakeholders including UBH, Northeast Counseling and the local health department. Commissioners said they were satisfied with the plans reviewed and appreciated the forward momentum.

Commissioner remarks stressed that the vote is a milestone, not a final construction authorization. The board voted in favor of advancing the plans so staff and the design team can complete construction documents and then move toward bidding, with a target to go out to bid within one to two months after documents are finished. The meeting record shows a motion was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.

Next steps include completion of construction documents, preparation of bid specifications, and scheduling for the bidding process. The commission also noted that Florence, the project architect, is expected at a follow-up meeting next week to continue the review process.
