Chamber asks county for short transition funding to retain events coordinator; county seeks accounting of prior TRT spending

Daggett County commissioners heard a request from the local chamber on Nov. 26 for short‑term transition funding to keep the chamber events coordinator on payroll through key events and to complete outstanding projects.
Maretta (chamber representative) outlined a proposal to keep Ryan Kelly employed through winter months to finalize contracts and finish the Burbot Bash and other programming, and said the chamber can provide a task list and deadlines. Chamber treasurer Brian said the chamber balance was roughly $30,900 and that the chamber would prefer to keep some reserve while supplementing payroll for transition work.
County financial officer Carrie said the commission needs documentation showing how earlier TRT (tourism‑related tax) funds were spent before the county approves additional disbursements. "We need to have the documentation to show what that was spent on before we would continue to pay more," Carrie said, noting the county must be able to account for TRT distributions.
Commissioners discussed options: (1) let the chamber manage the employment and use county funds under chamber control; (2) contract specific deliverables with Ryan so payment is tied to completed items; or (3) let the chamber hire Ryan as a contractor for discrete tasks. Commissioners asked the chamber to email a prioritized task list and a requested dollar amount; the board recessed briefly to await that follow up and to give chamber time to provide the list.
