Commission authorizes Sunrise Engineering to survey Manila Airport site for proposed sewer alignment

Daggett County commissioners voted to authorize Sunrise Engineering to access Manila Airport property and perform a ground survey to evaluate routing options for a proposed sewer line tied to the Chetneyville project.

An airport manager told the commission Sunrise needs permission to enter county-owned airport property to gather elevations and identify whether the preferred alignment would require boring under the runway. The manager said Sunrise’s preference would be not to cross the runway surface if possible.

An unidentified commissioner moved to approve the survey request and a second was recorded. After the motion and second, commissioners voiced agreement, with at least one vocal "Aye" recorded; the chair directed Sunrise to provide a preliminary plan or anticipated approach so the county could avoid paying for expensive work that might later be denied.

The authorization is limited to survey access; the commission asked Sunrise to coordinate administratively with airport staff and to present an anticipated method (for example, whether the route would be bored under the runway) before work progresses further. No construction contract or route approval was granted at the meeting.
