The Davis County Library Board received an update Nov. 14 on the Southland branch construction timeline and next steps.
Library Director Josh Johnson said contract negotiations are nearly finished with Modern Outwest for architectural services and that facilities staff will set an initial design meeting with the architect. "We are as far as I know, we're setting a meeting... so the Lynn Lowe's, our facilities director, is setting a meeting with the contractor to start out," Johnson said, noting the board may designate one to three members to participate in design meetings.
Johnson said staff will issue a construction RFP for the contractor once minor site adjustments with Balfour City are resolved and that the selection process for the architect had been clear, with the chosen firm ranking ahead of other finalists. The board acknowledged this is the most progress made in months and expressed appreciation for the RFP committee's work.
What happens next: Facilities will coordinate with Modern Outwest to schedule design meetings and prepare a contractor RFP after site adjustments are finalized; staff will advise the board on opportunities for member participation in design reviews.
