The Davis County Commission held a public hearing Dec. 3 to present proposed compensation changes for executive county officers in the 2025 budget. County staff read the proposed increases required by statute and ordinance: a 2.5% base increase for elected officials effective the first pay period of 02/2025; up to a 4% increase for the county attorney per ordinance; a justice-court-judge raise up to 3.3% or limited to the state pay cap; and up to 4% for department heads and certain deputies, tied to merit eligibility dates and other policy provisions.
Staff also noted that non-elected positions qualifying for a benchmark market reclassification adjustment would be eligible for an additional 3% beginning in the first pay period of 2025. After reading the proposals, commissioners opened the public hearing by motion, received no public comment, and closed the hearing by motion.
No vote or salary ordinance adoption occurred at the meeting; staff indicated the public comment period was completed and the matter would follow statutory processes for final action under Utah code.
