Davis County’s auditor presented the 2025 tentative budget during the commission’s Dec. 3 meeting and opened the statutory public hearing required under Utah law. The auditor outlined revenue adjustments totaling a $2,315,760 increase and revenue decreases totaling $1,845,760, with offsetting expense adjustments: expense increases of $470,868.56 and decreases of $775,076.78.
The auditor told commissioners that the county received a revised insurance estimate from its indemnity pool in the 24 hours leading up to the hearing and would add $36,273 to Fund 61 to cover total insurance premiums. The auditor also noted the budget materials were made available online and in packet form and that staff would provide additional details on request.
Commissioners opened a public hearing on the tentative budget and invited comment; a small number of residents used the budget hearing to raise questions that overlapped with the animal-care discussion (Fund 13). No final action on the 2025 budget was taken during the Dec. 3 meeting; commissioners said the next steps will include follow-up adjustments and a future vote.
