Commission denies late $500,000 ARPA request for Layton City water trunk line

After hearing the auditor’s presentation and noting prior discussions, a commissioner moved to deny the late-year application, saying the county had already allocated its available funds and the request arrived after the primary funding cycle. The motion was seconded and the commission voted in favor of denying the application.
Koch said the county has been allocating recovery funds methodically over the past several years and that water is an allowable use under ARPA rules, but he described the Layton City request as “a backup to a backup” and noted available county funds had been committed.
Next steps: the denial closes this application at the commission level; no alternate county ARPA funding was approved at the meeting.
