Sheriff's office grants and Board of Equalization adjustments approved

Chief Deputy Arnold Butcher presented two sheriff's office items that the commission approved on Nov. 19: a ratification of a State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant for $3,000 (9/1/2024'/31/2027) and a training agreement for Lucas James Schaeffer in the amount of $17,032 with a two-year term from hire. "You have 2 items for your consideration," Butcher said, and the commission approved both by voice vote.
Later in the meeting, the commission recessed into Board of Equalization business. Mr. Coke presented the property tax register for 11/19/2024, noting an appeals approval report recommending abatements totaling negative $516,299, a single large adjustment totaling $1,438,000, a late abatements report totaling $40,294.78, veteran exemption abatements totaling $12,000.34, and assessor-initiated corrections totaling negative $2,510,981. Commissioners voted to approve the property tax register unanimously.
The approvals conclude routine ratifications and tax-correction actions presented at the meeting.
