Davis County commissioners approve notice to end Roe Family Pharmacy contract as jail medical services move to Wellpath

Davis County commissioners voted unanimously Sept. 24 to send notice of termination to Roe Family Pharmacy as the county prepares to sign a contract with Wellpath to provide medical services at the county jail. Sheriff Butch said the move will allow the jail to use a national pharmacy affiliated with Wellpath and expand the formulary needed for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and psychiatric care.

"They have a national, pharmacy company where they're able to expand their formulary a lot greater for a lot of the things that we're starting to do with, like, MAT program and psychiatric care," the sheriff said in presenting the item. The sheriff said the change is part of the county's contract transition to Wellpath.

A motion to approve sending the termination notice was moved and seconded and carried unanimously. Commissioners did not record individual roll-call votes on the record; the chair announced the result as unanimous.

The action on Sept. 24 was limited to authorizing notice to the incumbent pharmacy; the commission did not approve the final Wellpath contract language during the same meeting. The sheriff framed the change as enabling expanded clinical options for inmates; no speakers raised objections during the discussion.
