Site selectors visit Logan airport; county approves $20,000 for airport match

Sean Mills of the Bear River Association of Governments told the board that recent work hosting three site selectors and two company-visits has brought encouraging interest to the airport. He said Dynamic Aviation placed the airport on a two-airport shortlist and that the firm could make a site decision in 12 to 18 months, emphasizing the long sales cycle for large aviation tenants.
Mills also reported that the County Economic Opportunity (CEO) board has recommended and the Cache County Council has approved setting aside $20,000 that the airport may use as discretionary match funds for grants, provided the use is consistent with CEO guidelines and not applied to deferred maintenance alone. "They set it aside, and the Cache County Council has approved it," Mills said of the $20,000 allocation.
Board members thanked staff and partners, including USU and Cache Valley Electric, for hosting the visits and noted that improving airport appearance (including addressing the dilapidated tower) would help recruitment. Mills invited the board to engage with the CEO board and said staff can provide supplemental materials upon request.
Next steps: Staff will continue recruitment follow-up; potential tenant decisions may take over a year and could require additional local incentives or site improvements.
