Superintendent highlights STEAM Expo, student activities and community events

Superintendent Jason Bowman opened his report by asking the board and audience to join in a moment of silence and offering condolences to the Covenant School community in Nashville following tragic events referenced at the meeting. "On behalf of the Neshaminy School District, our thoughts and prayers are with the Covenant School in Nashville, and the entire community as they deal with the unimaginable tragic events that took place yesterday," he said.

Bowman highlighted upcoming district events and student achievements. He promoted the annual STEAM Expo at Neshaminy High School (6:30–8:30 p.m.; admission free), noted the LisOnbee Challenge 5K and 2K walk on May 12 at Maple Point benefitting Stand Up Neshaminy, and reported that Pearl Buck's science fair had more than 90 third‑ and fourth‑grade participants with 38 projects. He congratulated district middle‑level volleyball winners and said a group of academic enrichment students had attended the Young Women's Conference in STEM at the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab.

Bowman also reminded families about junior prom scheduled for Friday, April 14, the high school spring vocal concert on Thursday, March 30 at 7 p.m., and that the third marking period ends Friday, March 31. He encouraged community participation in tomorrow's STEAM Expo and in the district's other activities.

Board members echoed support for the STEAM Expo during board comments and reminded the public of a business operations committee meeting to discuss the budget. The meeting record included no public speakers during the designated public comment period.
