Maple Point students invite veterans to Nov. 9 ceremony; district showcases student art and National Merit honorees

Maple Point Middle School students and staff announced plans for a Veterans Day ceremony and the district showcased student artwork during the Neshaminy School District board meeting.

Students Charlotte Bellas and Madison Pape invited local veterans to attend Maple Point’s Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 9, asking attendees to arrive at 9:30 a.m. for check-in and refreshments and noting the ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. "The Maple Point staff and students would like to invite veterans in our community to attend the celebration," one student said, and a phone number (215-809-6230) was provided for veterans to register.

Superintendent Bowman told the board the district art gallery is on display in the back of the room featuring student work from painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and jewelry classes. He also recognized National Merit Scholarship commended students — Aditya Patel; Nicole Webb; Mia Manton; Krish Patel; Corey Wang; Liam Phukanen — and a National Merit semifinalist, Sarah Kramer, and additional students of the month (Juliana Carriger; Bridal Mendez; Andrew Plen). The superintendent praised the student council for organizing the annual Pink Out fundraiser for cancer awareness.

Board members thanked staff involved in transportation and encouraged attendance at the Veterans Day program. The board said the event is an opportunity for students to connect with veterans and for the community to show appreciation.

The board adjourned after routine business and committee updates; the district encouraged veterans and community members to register via the contact number given.
