Superintendent highlights Veterans Day ceremony, new student portal, fire-prevention outreach and NEF fundraisers

Students Gavin and Braylen invited veterans to Maple Point Middle School’s Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 8, 2024, asking attendees to arrive at 9:30 a.m. for check-in and refreshments with the program beginning at 10:30 a.m. The students encouraged veterans to register through the Maple Point main office.
The superintendent thanked staff (including Miss Foley) for coordinating events and noted Fire Prevention Week activities: local firefighters visited elementary schools for safety lessons and demonstrations. He also recognized recent school fundraisers at Schweitzer, Miller Elementary and Carl Sandburg Middle School raising money to support a family displaced by a house fire; the family was reported to have no injuries and the community response as heartening.
The district’s curriculum and assessment department has introduced a Link It student portal that allows parents and guardians to view their child’s benchmark and state-assessment performance and other local assessments; instructions are available on the district’s website under Curriculum and Instruction.
NEF (Neshaminy Education Foundation) announced two fall fundraisers: a raffle for four seats to the Dec. 29 Eagles–Cowboys game (tickets sold at the Oct. 18 homecoming and Oct. 26 Old Langhorne Harvest Day) and an in-school tournament culminating in a final championship at the high school on Nov. 4. NEF’s next monthly meeting is Oct. 14 at Maple Point; community members were invited to attend.
The superintendent also reminded the public of a pink-out home football game on Oct. 10 and that schools will be closed the following Friday in recognition of Yom Kippur. The board and superintendent encouraged attendance at committees and school events.
