Board approves FY24 reconciliations and accepts law-enforcement vest grant

The Board of Supervisors approved several finance items to reconcile FY24 accounts and accepted a law-enforcement equipment grant.
Finance Director Mister Morrison asked the board to approve appropriations needed to reconcile FY24 for three funds using state, federal or other nonlocal revenue sources: Emergency Management Services billing proceeds ($57,484.55), the Child Services Act fund ($231,007.45), and the Schools Fund ($284,001.48). He recommended moving those amounts to the proper FY24 line items; the board moved and approved the appropriations.
Separately, the board restored $6,000 from the undesignated fund balance to the Chamber of Commerce’s FY25 budget after a presentation by Robbie Peck describing the chamber’s plan and ongoing operations.
Earlier in the meeting, Captain Joe Lepresti told the board the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office was awarded the Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant administered by the U.S. Office of Justice Assistance Programs for $15,170.06. Lepresti said the grant is a 50/50 local-match award and the local match had already been appropriated in the FY25 law-enforcement budget, so no additional local funds were needed. The board moved and approved acceptance and appropriation of the grant.
